Doing Business In Zambi

The past two months have been both a nightmare and a rewarding period for me and my friend Tony. Tony is a Greek Australian friend of mine. A very open minded guy and easy going yet with a great business sense. Our business has take take more than two years of research and and communication between Zambia and Australia. Truthfully speak, there have been many frustrating times in between. This is in part due past failed business and a few broken promises on my part. There may have been external factors at times but things began to move the moment I started taking responsibility for my misinformation and unkept promises. Two months ago, Tony touched down and we were ready go. We took on a journey to Namibia that would eventually be the backbone of everything and anything that we are now and will be forever. Along the way we have learnt many things. How to be patient with people. We rely heavily on transporters to do our business. This is in itself a limitation to what we ought to achieve. Zambia has a very poor work culture as well a lack of a sense urgency in the people we depend on to have things done. Lack of professionalism is another big problem we have encountered. It is extremely difficult to engage in a meaningful business discussion especially among the key players ie big businesses. Our greatest asset are our clients and with them we have no problem. We have made it a priority to serve the lowest on our 'food chain'. We seek to empower the not so rich. The reason is simple, It is the poor that give us money more than the rich ever will. We mingle with the common because we understand where they come from. We too came from there and will not forsake our own. We seek to see as many people out of poverty as we possibly can take out.
